November 2000
As I am the world's laziest person, here is the November newsletter early. You may notice the lack of an October newsletter. Well, I've been very busy!
October proved to be a fairly standard time for the Pokemon of CAIP. Showers is getting along splendidly with her Espeon friend and we have high hopes of more pups in the near future. The two of them are
insaely cute together, often taking walks up into the meadow and sitting on the Singing Bridge together. Sometimes they even crouch there and howl, enjoying the way their voices echo.
Eevee and Tina are getting along well, although they do engage in the occasional scuffle, they have now taken to pairing up and tormenting the other Pokemon of the place, taking a particular fancy to Electra, since she is easy to get irritated and excited.
Although this may not be the wisest of moves, it is good to see Eevee opening up and becoming affectionate.
Now Charmellia, poor Charmellia. Several weeks ago, we had some teenager vandals break into the park with the usual intent of destroying things and upsetting the Pokemon, and for some obscure reason, they chose Charmellia as their target. Now, we have
high levels of security, but due to high storms, some trees had taken out part of the fence, and also the electric current that ran around the top. This is not there to keep the Pokemon in, more to keep the public out, as Team Rocket and their minions are
one of the risks we must face! Anyway, Charmellia was out as this point, her cage having blown open, and they managed to corner her and attacked her with water, something terrible and terrifying for a poor fire Pokemon. Luckily we were alerted to her plight quite quickly by Venonatty and managed to save her life, and get
the troublemakers taken away, but as a result of this, the Charmeleon developed pneumonia. She is currently in intensive care and we are all hoping that she shall recover.
Florion and Ozmos's pups are still up for adoption. Their story can be found here. Because of this, we now have six delightful babies up
for adoption. There were seven pups born all together, but the seventh is being hand-reared by me, and she will not be leaving my sight anytime in the near future, weaned or not! But, I'm happy to say,
the other six pups, two females and four males, are already to go to new homes, possibly on your webpage! Now, there are several rules regarding the adoption of these pups. Firstly, if you get them, you
must demonstrate that you can look after them well. This means that they have to be in a place where I can see them if I so chose! So you MUST have a webpage and you must put the pup up on the webpage for all the world to
see! Also, you must link to CAIP, so other people can know where to get there own little Pup. If either of these are not met, I reserve the right to take your pup off you and adopt it somewhere else! The reason for being strict is there
are only six available.
Newsletter September/August 2000
All of the Pokemon at the sanctuary are doing fairly well. Venonatty has recovered nicely from his mange, although his fur is a little tatty and he is back to his affectionate self, so you can all breath out a sigh of relief!
Showers seems to be eyeing up a newcomer to the park, a Espeon that has was left with us when his owner passed on, so we might be seeing some interesting developments there in the near future! She has certainly come out of her shell and is now much more friendly and affectionate.
Charmelia is still misbehaving and we fear she may need solitary confinement. Her obnoxious personality means she is attacking everything and causing small fires everywhere.
Tina and Eevee were introduced together into an enclosure during the past month and the two of them are getting along fabulously. Some of Tina's adventurous nature is rubbing off on the very shy Eevee and Tina herself is being fairly patient with the little beast. We have high hopes that a release may be possible for this adorable duo.
And Ko, well, Ko is still stubborn and we have yet to figure out why. We think perhaps she is missing something from her life, and are trying to find a mate for her.
Newsletter July 2000
Over the last month not a lot has changed around CAIP. We have had several new visitors, a Totodile (Wainoko) suffering from a broken leg, who may
or may not have run away from her Trainer, a silver Flareon, currently recuperating in our barn and an Eevee that has been named Even. The future of these creatures
is uncertain, but thanks to your help, the others are faring well.
Showers went out again, on a road trip this time, with Eevee, Tina and Electra. Details of this can be found below, but surfice to say, Eevee is now decidedly less nervous and
Tina has calmed down somewhat (although she still does her Taz impersonation on occasion!). Now they are back in the sanctuary, behaving themselves more or less.
On a grimer note, Venonatty has come down with some sort of mysterious illness and is currently in intensive care. He is moulting his fur and we are having to cover him in blankets to keep his temperature
constant. We are very concerned about this and hope he will recover, but doubt he will ever be the same again.
This month a birthday picnic was held at Lake Eerie, and it was enjoyed by all, although attendence was not quite as we would have liked. The Pokemon had a fun time however and talked about it for
days afterwards! I would like to thank everyone that gave me presents, and also the Pokemon.
Also, thanks to help from Wings Vaporeon, we hav managed to track down a trader in Pokemon that has been mistreating them. He has apparently been buying Pokemon off children and selling them again
at a huge profit to breeders, and those he can't sell he was keeping in abysmal conditions. Hopefully he will be arrested and put away for a good long time!
No big news this month, although we are hoping to have some pups up for adoption come August, if all goes well. Stay tuned for details!
Road Trip by Wings Vaporeon
Yeah you read it right, Road Trip, it was to Atlanta. I had a lot of fun along with the
pokemon that went. I went to CAIP to get my adopted ones, all them jumped into the back of the
van but Tina, she looked at EEVEE and started to nip me in the leg. So I took Tina friend with
me on the trip. The van had 6 eevee's, 5 Vaporeons, 5 Jolteons and 8 Flareons, this include the
new family member Silver Bolt, a Silver Flareon that was abused I found out the same guy that owned
Tina, pretty weird. Of course Tina was happy to see him. Well I had a mine TV and VCR in
the van, of course playing Tarzan from Walt Disney was not smart all them where barking at it,
so pop in the pokemon movie and I hear cheers for this movie. Before I hit the highway I
loaded up on gas and on snack food, of course the bathrooms where filled with pokemon and somehow
Tina got herself locked in the freezer, how she did that I don't know but when I pulled her out
her tail was blue. So she sat in my lap when I drove onto the highway, and then she was her
old mean self only she sat on my shoulder and barked at a passing van. Of course more barking
started in the back, I then noticed it was the same guy that owned Tina and Silver Bolt before I
came along and saved them. Well being me I followed him to a hotel that only allowed people.
Of course I noticed there was Jolteon in the front seat of the van, I picked the lock with a
hair pin and it jumped out the poor thing's so skinny you could count the bones in the body.
I picked the lock on the back and boy was I mad, lots of cages with 14 eevee in them, 2 growlithes,
and 3 vulpix. I picked all the locks and put them all back in the van, of course I locked all
the cages and doors I open with the hair pin.
Well pulled into my friend driveway and closed the gate when I got out and let the creatures
out to run around. I got her to look at the ones I saved, she was going to take 2 vulpix, and
one growlthe to keep for her own. I would keep the others, I would let them play on the farm
I'm now an eevee breed and I own a farm know the place is a very happy place too. I got them
all cleaned up and ready for the Coka Museum boy they where going to have fun at that place for
sure, of course major bathroom trip before we leave. So take then subway to the Museum we got
in pokemon go in for free owner $20 dollar. We all rode the evolter up to the 3rd floor and
watch a machine fill empty coka bottles and cap them. Tina and Eevee watch the bottles
disappear in a little hole. Then we went and watch the coke movie we all found out that was
circlumes all put together then went to the soda shop there they all got soda jerk hats.
Then down stair there we tried all the coka from the U.S.A and in the next room other Coka from
around the world. We all tried them, some were sickly, some were great and some want to make you
throw up! Then the last floor gift shop, there was a giant bear statue and got a group picture
Tina and EEVEE got on the bear head. They all got one beanie coke animal, so did I and we left.
Of course we made a trip to the bathroom before leaving because we all drank a lot of coka!
Got back to my friend house and had supper then plans for the next day was the water park
I heard hiss from the Flareons, Silver Bolt, Tiger, Stripes, Luna, Arky, and Splits yip and
smile like Vaporeons. The 14 eevee all got in the bed with me along with the growlthe's,
vulpixs and the jolteon. Of course next morning was a pain, having 20 eevee "eve" at you to
get up, Vaporeons all ready to go to the park and the Flareons trying to hide and not go!
When we got there they ask what was in the cooler, I told them lunch from them and point to
the huge group behind me. He smiles and lets us pass we drop all the eevee but Tina and
EEVEE went with us. My friend was staying with the fire pokemon, the jolteons went into the
lazy river and got there self some tubs to float in, the Vaporeons hit the wave pull all but
Showers, she want to stay with me. The first ride we did was the dragon tail it hurt my back,
but watching Shower's tail hit her in the face was fun, while Silver Bolt went down on his belly,
Tina and EEVEE races each other down. Then we hit the body flume, of course the lady told me
that Silver Bolt needed to go with me. Of course he tried to us me as a body board, of course
that didn't last long we hit a cover and he lands right in front of me which was not a pretty
sight, of course some how he hit bottom he fellow and land on the life guards head, she wasn't
that happy. Then we went back to have lunch; of course we all got in the lazy river even the
fire ones only they got tubes that where for sitting. Then we went on more rides, the rides
need some tubs of course carrying one for Tina and eevee was hard, I had to carry mine, of
course hearing that they could ride with me made Tina bite the life guard in his butt, he
kicked Tina. EEVEE bit him in the toe and let them go down on their own after getting beaten
up, which was fun. On one of the ride Shower rode with Silver Bolt and I was watching this,
there was matts right at the bottom of course when they hit it they went flying over to the left,
I went in to see if they where okay turns out they had a ball, then we did the water race,
I lost but Shower's won every race. Or course after the Water Park we went to Stone Mountain
to watch the laser show and boy they had some great fire works at the end of that show. Going
home was a snap they where all knocked out and sound asleep in the van.
Before we left Georgia we went to their new mall and went to a store called Build a Bear,
all them got bears. We watch them stuff them, and then had to clean them ourselves, of course
the name part was hard I had to do all of the names, then getting close was fun for them.
Showers made her bear a fire fighter, Tina a Black Belt at Karate and EEVEE a Ballerina.
Of course they carried the boxes that their bears where in was nice I didn't have to carry
that many but I did make one for Kataryna. It was a bear that was a nurse; reason why she takes
well care of the pokemon at the CAIP so I thought this would be nice. Getting out of the mall
and going home was quite they all were asleep in the back of the van all but Tina she jumped
right in the front, she curled up in my lap and went to sleep. I think this trip did Tina some
good for her. We got back home around 8:30 p.m. the care takers took the ones they took care of
and place them in there pens along with there bears, they also got bears too.
I found Kataryna, told her that all the CAIP pokemon picked a bear out for her and want her to
have, I think that was so sweet of them and boy I was glad to go home to my farm and to sleep
in my own bed with out 20 eevee waking you up in the morning in one bed. I think the next road
trip I go on we're going to a baseball game!
Newsletter June 2000
Two new cases were brought in these past month, both little whirlwinds in their own way. The first being a Jolteon, who has been named Electra and
the other an Eevee, who was rescued by one of our Adoptees. Unfortunately, little Tina proved too much of a handful for the Trainer and tormented her Pokemon, so she has given her to us in the hope that
we can rehabilitate her to the wild. Thank you Meredith for bringing her to us, there are too many irresponsible Pokemon Trainers out there that dump their Pokemon without thought to their wellbeing. So far Tina
has settled in well (and been nicknamed "Taz" by some of the staff), although we have had to fix up our laboratory several times!
I am also pleased to note that Showers has improved markedly and is now responding well to our staff. She has almost lost her fear of humans although watching the movie "Scream" with her one of her many adopted owners
did give her nightmares for a few days, she sought out her Keeper for comfort. More on that visit later.
Eevee has also improved. She is becoming more confident and has been playing with Tina. We are hoping this will not teach her any bad habits!
Charmelia escaped from her cage the other day (we have her caged up at night because she's a trouble maker) and managed to incinerate a fair chunk of Weedle Woods before we managed to extinguish the fires. This has been something
of a setback for us, as now we shall have to spend money replanting. Luckily we caught her again without incident and she has since been put under more secure facilities.
I would also like to welcome all of you to my Birthday picnic, which will be held on the 22nd June, on the shores of Lake Eerie. Unfortunately, human habitation has meant this once ideal spot is now slightly polluted, but it
is still an enjoyable spot for relaxation and all of my personal Pokemon collection and our charges will be present. So feel free to drop by and bring your Pokemon with you!
And that's it for this month, but here is the story of Shower's big day out, for all who might be interested:
Shower's Day Out (Meredith/Wings Vaporeon)
I asked one of the helpers at the CAIP if I could take Shower's out to meet the family and she said it was okay. So I got Showers in the car and drover home to meet the family, what I didn't know was my friends were throwing a party to welcome Shower's. When we got there I noticed that my other adopted pokemon were nowhere to be seen, so I thought I'd show Showers the trophe room. Shower looked at all the trohes in the room and the blue ribbons that Sparks, Anubis, Princess and Angel had won in show rings for breed EEVEE and evolutions. Showers notices the picture of Princess and me. She saw how I hold Princess's head and tail, how her feet were place. She saw the same thing done to Anubis, Sparks and Angel. She looked at the ribbons and tried to take one, but I caught her in the act and told her maybe one day she could enter and try to win one until then I told her that I needed to get to know her better and show her how to walk and to be handled. Then we went down stairs and outside saw a table set up with a cake, food, games, and streamers all over the yard, balloons and party hats. Then out of nowhere my friends, my adopted pokemon and my friend's pokemon popped out and surprised the both of us. Angel ran up to look over Shower, Angel smiled and ran over to the table, Angel knocked a party hat off. Angel ran over and put the hat on Shower's head which covered that fin in the middle of the head. Then Anubis, and Princess came over throwing streamers all over Shower body, Shower smiled happily as she was been loved so easily, then Sparks came he had one of those things you blow in and made a noise. The thing tickled Showers nose, I think Sparks liked Showers a lot. Then my friends and their pokemon got Showers some gifts. My friend Beth and her Pikachu gave Showers some toys to play with when she in her pen and needed something to do. Sera and here Vulpix gave her a basket with Showers name on it along with a blanket and a tiny stuff teddy bear for sleeping. Daisy and her Meowth gave Showers a blue Ribbon says "Shower is #1," and they placed that around her neck. Showers started to cry, because she was so happy. Then the cake had "welcome to the family Showers"; and it was shaped as a Vaporeon. I thought that was cute and took a picture of it before we ate it. After eating the cake we had games to play of course, the whack the trainer seemed to be a hit for Showers, as it cracked open with candy in it. Then after the games and goofing off we went inside to watch a movies. Two cartoons and one scary movie, Showers sat very closed to the TV when we were watching "scream", she got scared at the part where she saw the guy with that weird mask on, she ran and dove right under the couch. She stay there threw the whole movie, of course when something bad happen she pulled her head under the couch. Then it was time to take Showers back to the CAIP. I allowed the stuff she got from the group, when we got back I ask someone if I can see Shower's pen and they let me go into her pin. I placed the basket in a coiner she had the blanket and the tiny bed in the basket. The toys where placed in another coiner of the pin. I then hanged the blue ribbon in her pen, above her basket. I told the caretaker of Showers that those gifts from my friends. I told her to stay with her tonight because she might get scared. She asked why and I told her the Shower saw Scream the movie. She understand and told that she would stay with her all night just in case Shower had a bad dream and would be there for her when she wakes up. I said good bye to Shower as I left the Center.
Newsletter - May 2000
We had a very sad case brought in this week. A Vaporeon that had been both abused and abandoned by its Trainer. She is currently undergoing psyciological treatment and a select member of out staff is trying to bond with her. I'll update you on details as they become known to me.
This is a reminder to all of you that Pokemon are not you slaves, they are your friends and they do what they do for you because they love you. If any of you know of a case where someone is forcing their Pokemon to fight against there will, please let me know!
On a brighter note, we had a visit in the last month from Khristian Kay, who has sponsered two of our Pokemon here in CAIP. He brought with his gifts for his adopted Pokemon and they were most grateful for them, even the rather moody Charmellia. If any of you who have adopted one of our Pokemon wish to visit to play with them or give them gifts, we welcome this. Some of these Pokemon are very shy or stubborn and we welcome any chance to bring them out of there shells.
Little Eevee escaped last week, somehow managing to climb over the fence. Luckily she was found cowering behind the washing machine of an elderly lady, who upon finding her immediately called us and we went to pick her up. Unfortunately, Eevee was very stressed by the whole situation and has now taken to cowering beneath bushes in our gardens and is even avoiding the Keeper she had previously bonded with.
Anyway, that's the update for this month. I remind you that any adoptions are greatly sought and that the Pokemon which are adopted do much better than those that are not. Also, we are receiving Pokemon all the time, so if you find an injured Pokemon or wish to adopt one, please contact us immediately.
April 2000
The Centre for Injured and Abandoned Pokemon first opened this month, on the 12th April 2000. It has been several months in the making, but now our ponds are completed, our woodlands grown to an acceptable height and cages created to handle up to fifty Pokemon on different types.
The inspiration to start this Centre came to me when I was younger and found a Nidoran that had escaped from a fighting ring. He had not been taught to fight in the usual, acceptable way, but in a barbaric fashion that led to him being extremely aggressive towards other Pokemon, distrustworthy of humans and he had to be force fed. I named him Spike, and kept him by my side for the next few years, giving him experience at being a "tame" Pokemon and also teaching him about love. He repayed me tenfold, and eventually evolved into Nidorino, and then I released him back into the wild. Although I miss him badly, I know that where he is now, he is happy and free, the way he should be. After the experience with Spike, I decided that I wanted to give something back to the Pokemon and help them in what ever way I could.
The Centre used to be a breeding facility for Pokemon that had to be closed down for financial reasons, and I managed to beg, borrow and make enough money to state the Centre. For this I need your help, for every Pokemon that is "adopted", I will be better able to provide it with the care it needs. You also will receive something back, including the chance to learn about your Pokemon (and receive the occasional picture of it).
Currently only three Pokemon are able to be adopted. This is a test to see how popular this is, and the more that are adopted, the more shall be offered for adoption. If you are specifically interested in a particular Pokemon and have already adopted one, send me your details and I'll see if we can offer you the species you want.
